Sex may sell, but their deal doesn’t include love…

Brew Crew, Book 1

Account Director Sloane Granderson has been given her orders by the CEO—tone down the antics of the “Brew Crew”, the guys at Huxworth Packard Advertising who work on their biggest account. Sure, they’re all puffed up, strutting egos, but they’re also the best and brightest creatives in Chicago. Including the newest recruit, disturbingly attractive Levi Wolcott.

Award-winning copywriter Levi is pumped to have been headhunted to Huxworth Packard to work on the beer account. But he’s not off to a good start when he and Sloane first meet in an embarrassing encounter in a hotel hall, and the Brew Crew’s merciless new-guy hazing doesn’t improve his shaky first impression. Even worse, Levi can’t ignore the intense attraction he has to Sloane.

Despite their mutual “hell no” when it comes to love, a moment of weakness makes Sloane and Levi believe business and pleasure can be kept separate, and maybe a little harmless sex isn’t that dangerous.

Or maybe it’s as harmless as a bomb with a lit fuse…

Warning: This book contains a hero with an award-winning, panty-melting vocabulary intent on the hard sell, and a take-charge businesswoman who doesn’t mind giving up control in the bedroom…and thinks panties are overrated, anyway.

OFF LIMITS IS NOW AVAILABLE!
Are you getting in the mood for a sexy holiday story? Here you go!

The Jeep Diva says:
"I loved it!  This book was fun and flirty with just the right amount of angst and spiciness!"

The Christmas season always puts a smile on Jenna McFadden’s face. Even though she’s bringing a boyfriend home for the first time, inside she’s dying to see Andrew. Years ago, when the McFaddens took the troubled teen into their home, Jenna had to keep her blazing-hot crush a secret. And now that he’s playing pro hockey for the NHL’s Chicago Aces, nothing’s changed. With his wide shoulders and taut muscles, Andrew’s the most tempting package in the house . . . one that Jenna’s dying to unwrap.
Andrew Ross just can’t make a play for Jenna. Her dad and brothers wouldn’t approve, and he could never betray the trust of the wonderful people who treated him like family when he lost his own. That’s what makes the holidays so hard. Whether Jenna’s skating with Andrew on a frozen pond or sitting on his lap while he plays Santa, she’s pushing all their boundaries—and there’s only so much a man can take. Andrew knows that she’s off-limits. But something deep down tells him that Jenna’s heart is the one prize he simply has to win.

(¸.•´ (¸.•`  RELEASE DAY!!

I'm so excited Major Misconduct is finally out! This is an especially exciting release, because it's the launch of my new hockey series, Aces Hockey. All you readers who keep asking for more Heller Brothers...I hope you'll check out my new series which features a whole team of hot hockey players, starting with team captain, Marc Dupuis.

Here's the blurb:

As the captain of the Chicago Aces, Marc Dupuis is all business. The apartment he shares with his teammate and best friend, Duncan, is a refuge from the pressures of fame. But when the sexiest woman he’s ever seen interrupts his early morning coffee wearing only a skimpy cami and matching panties, Marc can’t exactly say he minds. Their chemistry is off the charts. Unfortunately, this girl’s no random puck bunny. She’s Duncan’s little sister—and she’s moving in.

Lovey Armstrong could stare at Marc’s chiseled abs and listen to his French-Canadian accent all day. She just has no idea what’s going on inside his head: When he’s not charming her pants off, Marc makes a Zamboni machine seem warm and cuddly. Lovey knows the team’s bro code says no messing with sisters, but all these mixed messages are hard on a girl’s self-esteem—especially since she’s finally getting her new life together in Chicago. She decides he’s worth another shot . . . because if anyone can melt the ice around Marc’s heart, it’s Lovey.

To err is human, to forgive is against his policy.
Brew Crew, Book 2

Bailey Harris is eager to move up at Huxworth Packard. Her mentor advises her to network more after hours. But that means she’ll have to reveal the reason she rushes out of the office at five o’clock on the dot—and it’s not for happy hour Cosmos.

On the other hand, more office time means more opportunities to feast her eyes on the firm’s executive creative director, the gorgeous, brilliant Mason Ward.

Mason sure has noticed the sweet, sexy media girl, but with a past that left his heart an echo chamber, his focus is on work. The occasional itch he scratches with meaningless, emotionless hook-ups. Though he’s determined to keep his hands off Bailey, he can’t resist when she makes it very clear she wants his hands on.

They’re on the same sexy page about their relationship—Bailey doesn’t have the time, and Mason doesn’t have the heart. But when meaningless sex suddenly becomes very meaningful, they find themselves in dangerous emotional waters.

Warning: This book contains a girl with a mad crush, a mad man with a mysterious past, secrets, lies, and shoes.

Teaser...
“I don’t think so, sweet thing.” She tried to ease away from him but the back of her chair kept her in place. “I am most definitely…all…grown…up.” He nuzzled her exotic-scented hair, drifted his lips over the curve of her jaw, hovered near her mouth, her lips parted. He waited. Neither of them breathed. Then he kissed her, a slow, soft brush of mouths with just a hint of tongue lingering on her bottom lip.

I'm not a social media whiz...

I just read a great interview with fabulous author Kristan Higgins, where she says this about how she promotes herself:

"I write more books. It’s easy to believe that if you just promote enough, your book will get attention. I don’t think that’s true. Readers can’t be fooled or manipulated into loving an author. It’s always about the book. I know authors who are great on Facebook and write ragingly popular blogs about publishing, authors who have ten times the Twitter followers I have. But that’s not what I’m doing for a living. I don’t want to be a social media whiz; I want to write books. My readers want me to write books. You have to choose how you spend your time."

This really hit home for me because I feel exactly the same. Sometimes I get discouraged and think I need to do more promo stuff. It's not something I'm good at. I'm a quiet, introverted person who doesn't like to put myself out there, but even so, I do love interacting with readers (especially in my Sweet Heat Reader Group, which is a more personal environment). Sometimes finding the balance between that and writing is difficult. But I think Kristan's right -- readers probably want me to write more books rather than be a social media whiz.

So I'm still here on-line and I still want to interact with readers and have fun, but if I'm not here as much as some authors are, it's because I'm writing another book.

Her Stand-In Boyfriend is now available!
Her Stand-In Boyfriend is out today!

This boyfriend business is about to get a whole lot more personal...

Event planner Lexi Mannis has a busy life in Chicago - too busy to have a boyfriend. For special occasions, she has her Stand-In Boyfriend, Mac Northrop. Mac offers (almost) all the perks of a real boyfriend - furniture assembly, a date to big events, and someone to cook for. But they've never been "with benefits"...until one wickedly hot night crosses the line.

Mac's been in love with Lexi for ages. He knows he should probably end it, but dammit, he just can't. When things get deliciously down and dirty, Mac is certain that he's made the leap out of the friend zone...until Lexi decides she wants to remain friends. With benefits.

What Lexi doesn't know is that she's running out of time. And if she won't promote Mac to Real Boyfriend, she might just lose her Stand-In Boyfriend to someone else...

Last week I stumbled across a reader review for my upcoming book Major Misconduct that really made me cringe. I know I shouldn’t be reading reviews and I know I shouldn’t respond to them, but after giving it some thought, I decided I would post this.

The reader was disappointed in Major Misconduct because the publisher has tagged it “perfect for readers of Sawyer Bennett and Toni Aleo” and she didn’t agree. Obviously she’s a big fan of those authors, but what made me cringe was when she implied that I’d read Toni’s and Sawyer’s (and Jaci Burton’s) books and tried to copy them.

I found that very offensive, but I’m going to choose to believe this reader thought that was a way of describing the book and didn’t intend to be insulting.

I’ve never read Toni or Sawyer or Jaci’s hockey books (I have read other Jaci Burton books). I’ve read pieces of Toni's and Sawyer’s books, and they do seem quite different from mine. This reader may also not have been aware that Major Misconduct is not the first hockey romance I've written - it's my sixth -- and that my first hockey romance was published in March 2011, which was before those other authors’ hockey romances were published.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Limited TIme Offer snippet
Here's a bit of one of my favorite scenes from Limited Time Offer...

Levi whistled as he strolled back to Scott’s office, where he was doing something crazy with Photoshop, working on the ideas they’d come up with. “Check it out.”

Levi peered at his monitor. A big hairy dude reclined in a bathtub full of bubbles reading a book, his feet hanging over the edge, a glass of wine sitting on the side of the tub. With no copy, the only words were on the label of the beer bottle in the bottom right corner—Flying Pigs Pale Ale.

Levi grinned. “Yeah! Perfect.” Just what they’d talked about.

“And this one.” Scott clicked his mouse. Another image appeared, this one two men holding hands.
Levi shook his head and sighed. “Nah. That one doesn’t work. Too homophobic.”

“I thought so too. One more.”

Another dude in a pink tank top and tiny athletic shorts appeared, again with the Flying Pigs Pale Ale bottle.

“Awesome.”

“Last one.”

Back to the hairy dude in the bathtub who had one leg out of the water covered with shaving foam and a shaver in his hand. Levi snorted with laughter. “I fucking love that one.”

Scott grinned. “Okay.” He turned away from his computer. “We need to get to work on the Natural Belgian Blonde. You know where we’re going with that one.”

“Pamela Anderson.”

“Dude. Natural blonde.”

“Can we make some kind of joke about the curtains matching the carpet?”

“Fuck no!” Scott paused. “Besides, these days there isn’t as much carpet.”

“Ahaha!” Levi laughed so hard he just about split a gut.

Scott laughed too.

Then… “I know!” Levi just about blew up. “There’s no actual blonde woman in the ad. Just a picture of carpet and drapes. That don’t match. No, no…they do match. Perfectly. With some kind of crazy pattern.”

“Ah!” They leaped up and high-fived each other. “Hang on, hang on.” Scott clicked his mouse a few times and Pharrell William’s “Happy” blasted from his computer. They both started dancing. Levi had his arms in the air and was thrusting his pelvis when Joseph Huxworth walked by. Joseph paused and eyed them. And he wasn’t alone. Presumably that was a client. Crap.

Levi dropped his arms and jerked his head at Scott, who lunged for his computer mouse and cut the music.

“Uh, hey, Mr. Huxworth.” Levi smiled. “Just celebrating our incredible creative genius.”
